Remy sat in a wooden chair on the balcony of a small restaurant, in a small town of 30 or so, called Jubenheim. The day was calm and sunny with a slight comforting and warm breeze. There were 2 open chairs at the table he sat at. There was a half eaten bowl of noodles in front of him, and a glass of water. The glass sweat small droplets of water, showing it was still rather warm outside. He had his hands resting behind his head. There was a long, silk and dark blue katana bag, leaned up against the wall right next to him. He looked out across a large open field with short grass and sporatic patches of trees and vegetation. Further out, 15 miles or so, in the distance a large mountain range could be seen. It was such an ominous and evil looked scene. Large black clouds were loomed over the mountain range. The mountains looked like the true essence of evil.

"That must be where Caligo is." He said under his breath.

"I guess I should be heading that way." He paused.

"I just don't remember if the team was supposed to assemble this early on or not. I know everyone was assigned their own job. But, I couldn't remember when or where we were supposed to meet." He thought to himself.

It's too early to be awake.

Priya had seen enough paranormal activity to quell her surprise at the abnormality of her new life, but the mountains across the plains mesmerized her. In full daylight, they were dark; on this sunny, almost cloudless day, grey clouds obscured the many summits. For an instant, Priya wondered why these peculiar mountains, so unmistakably horrible and mysterious, didn't attract worldwide attention. But that train of thought was instantly shut down by her arrival in the quaint Jubenheim. The team hadn't traveled together to this place, but as to why she hadn't the faintest idea. As the youngest on this mission, Priya actually expected not to be told the inner workings of 'why' for one main reason: She simply hadn't proven herself yet. Oh yes, she was in Spiritum, but she didn't have as much experience as the others. Of course this irked her, but really, what could she do about it?

Jubenheim was so disappointingly small that Priya had mapped the entire town out in about an hour. She found the only inn, in case they didn't really want to stay in Caligo for whatever reason, and politely asked if her luggage could be kept in the lobby for a few hours. She had also found Remy sitting alone on the balcony of the only restaurant, but decided to finish her mental map before showing herself. The Quest-Givers (as she had secretly dubbed her superiors) weren't really all that clear about where in particular the team was supposed to assemble- just that it was in Jubenheim. As much as Priya wanted to take a nap, she needed to let Remy know she was here. He was the only other agent she had found, and communication was one of the most important aspects of a team, right?

Appearing out of nowhere, conveniently before Remy had a chance to object, Priya sat herself in one of the empty chairs at his table. She sat her own black messenger bag next to his silk katana bag without missing a beat, and looked into the building for a waiter. Sitting here, she quickly realized she wasn't just tired, she was famished as well. With a sigh, she turned to the solemn man.

"I hope you don't mind me intruding like this, Remy. I just wanted to let you know I'm here. I haven't seen anyone else in town."

Remy, made a quick notion with his hand. Immediately after, a petite waitress with long blonde hair appeared in the doorway of the restaurant. She was cute, her face adorned with freckles. She had bright blue, caring eyes. She dusted off her white frilled apron she spoke.

"Yes sir, may I help you?" She asked in a friendly tone, with a smile. The people of Jubenheim spoke with an ever so slight accent.

He turned his head to her and spoke. "My associate would like something to eat miss." Smiling at her, she smiled right back. The mutual respect between the two, making itself known.

He thought it best for her to order, before they began to speak business.

Turning his gaze back to the ominous mountain range. At some points, the tops of mountains poked through the clouds like little tendrils. It was such an out of place scene. The Caligo area, used to be a beautiful area. Remy, had visited Caligo once before, which was the other reason he was chosen for this mission.

Tianna had walked in slowly. Her normal look of darkness on her face as she stood behind the waitress. Her sapphire blue eyes catching the sun making her shake her head slowly, the black set of curls springing behind her. She had only been here once, it was not how she remembered it at all, but then again a lot had changed in her life. "why do they have us meet so early?I could have used the sleep after the travel." she said in her elegant voice, she smiled at the two and took a seat. Her black dress covered what needed to be yet still she seemed under dressed. Her own bag staying at her side, the bag had her spell book, she trusted no one with it. She had pale skin and bright eyes. "just some water for me I ate already, not really a morning person." she smiled again and rested her hands on the table. "I am tianna" she reached out a hand to the young girl across from her. tianna looked over to remy she had met him once before in the past. "they called me to meet with a new group, how has it been going? Never imagined i'd be here again." she studied the mountains for a moment before returning her gaze to the two members of the new group.

Priya's respect for Remy went past the usual workplace respect of 'he's more experienced than I am' to a more profound respect as a result of seeing his ingenious creations before this particular mission began. She didn't like to admit it, but his technical genius outweighed hers by far. The fact that he didn't react negatively to her intrusion gave her more confidence about her usefulness to the mission, no matter if she was really over-thinking things or not (which she probably was). On her way here, Priya had known she was going to scout for the team, but other than that she wasn't really sure what else she could do.

Priya smiled politely at the waitress. "I'll just have a glass of water and... Hmm. What do you have for breakfast?" she inquired. As the waitress rambled off about the assorted pastries and sandwiches they offered, Priya noticed a black-haired beauty coming up to the table. She looked familiar (Priya had seen her at their headquarters before), but as to her name or character the Ghost had no idea.

"Two of those strawberry pastries you mentioned sound perfect, thank you," she finished as the other female agent sat down in the remaining chair of the table. The waitress, obviously startled, tried to ask if this newcomer needed anything, but was cut off by the answer. The waitress walked away, and Priya thought about those delicious-sounding pastries with earnest.

So her name was Tianna? It fit her. Priya shook her hand and replied, "Priya Torv, nice to meet you." Priya was determined to find out the story of her previous visit (Priya was nosy, but hey, it came with the job), but for now, she thought it best to keep her mouth shut. A lack of patience was no way to get information.

Tianna smiled warmly to the younger girl. Her smile sparkled in the light. She took care of herself, she was tought that as a young girl, but her family had her banished from their "land" as they learned of her power. She felt betrayed from then on and worked to be the master of her skills and she had done just that. "dark magic is my specialty, summoning spells, also i'm a healer" she seemed to read her face as she questioned in her head about her powers. Her elegant voice seemed to lower as she talked about it. She brushed aside a stray curl from her face and looked around. Her experience was often needed in dangerous situations. Her sapphire blue eyes looked over to remy "whats the situation? And is this the whole team?" she was curious as she put her chin on her hands smiling as she thought about the last visit. She had almost gotten in trouble because she was flirting with the enemy yet she effectively took him down. She just didn't do it the way they wanted her to. They had yelled about 'why can't you just take care of them, and bring them in? Flirting is not part of your job.' she almost laughed when they told her no acting unprofessional this time. Her thoughts returned to the table to the other members of the team.

Remy eyed the girls with curiousity and wonder. Although, the supernatural specialist unit 'Spiritum' was small, there were still many members in differnet departments. So, the chances of actually knowing someone well within the group was unlikely, unless they had worked with each other on a previous mission, even than most missions were solo.

He had heard of these two at the mission briefing, while he skimmed through their files. Every single person involved was unique and had their own skills and talents. They had put Remy in charge of the mission, because of his intelligence, quick wits and smart thinking. They had the upmost faith in him.

Remy bowed his head slowly down to his bowl of noodles. He shoved a forkfull of noodles in his mouth and slurped them quickly with grace and precision. He was a gentleman and had good manners. Moving his black hair from his eyes, he slumped back in his chair and looked up at Tianna.

"Were expecting a few more. But, as to when and where we will meet up with them is unknown. Every one of us has been assigned a few different things. But, the overall mission is the same." He said.

He pointed over the field, and at the ominous looming mountain range. "Our target lies over there. It's surrounded by mountains on almost every side. We have to tread lightly. There is very little information known so far. That's why we have Priya over here." He nodded to her with his head, still keeping eye contact with Tianna.

"We'll be leaving in a few hours, to meet up with our client. Our rendezvous point is a graveyard on the outskirts of town. If there is anything you wish to do before we leave, i suggest doing it now." With that, he broke his glance and slipped into thought.

"hmmm a grave yard. How appropriate. " she tapped her small black bag with curiousoity. Her summoning spells would come in handy there if something went wrong. She smiled and watched the mountains. "i've hurd a lot about both of you. It will be my pleasure working at your sides." she smiled again and laughed a little. Her eyes seemed to glow with interest. She then crossed her legs elegantly under the table and sat back. She quickly fixed her black dress and gazed out into the distance. "people don't seem to remember me, this is good. Like i've said i've never imagined coming back here. Last time I was here I caused a little bit of an up roar" her voice trailed off as she looked back to the group. "I wonder why they would need black magic..." her blue eyes looked over as she yawned. "I have nothing that needs to be done. So i'm ready whenever you are remy"

Priya cataloged the exchange between her fellow Spiritum agents. This happened without thought now, automatic, like breathing or blinking. She cataloged everything for fear of being unprepared at a later date. Some fast talking could really get you out of trouble sometimes. When she was acknowledged, she nodded, but didn't speak. It was about then when she started smelling a delicious strawberry smell, and saw that lovely, amazing waitress with her food! Oh, how Priya loved food. She warmly thanked the waitress and dug in, not caring what the others thought of her eating habits.

In between pastries, Priya wiped her mouth with a napkin (she DID have manners, after all), and asked, "Will the others know where to meet this client?" They probably did, but Priya loved absolutes.

At Tianna's remark, the paranoid part of Priya's mind woke up. What did she know about the Ghost already? What could she know? Immediately, Priya decided that as soon as she was back at headquarters, she'd pay a little visit to her own file, just to see what exactly was in there.

With both wonderful pastries finished and her own glass of water drained, Priya spoke up again.

"I have a few more errands I want to run, if that's okay with you. Gathering information, and the like. The only inn is down the street to the left, if you don't really want to spend your time sitting here."

Dmitri stood at a certain distance between the settlement known as Jubenheim and the target of today’s mission up on the mountain range. While technically his back is facing the sky, for his body is hunched over as if weighed down by a great burden, he was walking away from the settlement at a poor man’s pace. He was quite alone of intelligent life and, if not for the wild animals, he might have been utterly alone. He was walking at the point of a mountain’s base where the tree line and open prairie have not quite met yet; here and there are mingling patches of trees and forested bushes. The ground had the softness of a recent downpour. A palpable amount of moisture could be tasted upon the air. He had just reached the point where there was now a noticeable incline; every step forward was harder to pound into the dirt.

Twenty paces behind Dmitri stood his vehicle, still on and riveting. He had gotten out for a bit of fresh air and a chance to stretch his legs. He was walking to get blood circulation back into his limbs. The bit of fresh air could never be further from the truth. Now standing erect, Dmitri was puffing on a large cigar. The wisp-like smoke cut a path through the air with an insidious woven line of a black and very distinguishable contrast. Around the visible line was a thin layer of mist from an outpouring of lesser smoke. With his left hand Dmitri flicked away the match that lit his cigar.

Dmitri was a well built man for his age. His body was tight against his business-like suit; he was by no means muscular, nor was he an athletic type. His body gave the impression of being something that it was not. He stood at a height of five foot and ten inches; had pale skin, which he covered in the day by wearing a heavy black business suit; had a clean shaven face and had blonde hair and blue eyes. He carried with him a very heavy accent of the old country, which worsened into a deep and heavy rasp because of the cigar burning the chords within his throat. He had with him a three foot and two inch cane with him at all times, though to be honest there was no medical reason to use it.

Dmitri took out the cigar from his mouth after puffing on the end of it for a time and drop it onto the ground where he ground the object underneath his right foot until all of the ashes and burning cinders were abolished. He made his way back to his vehicle, wheezing and coughing.

With a slight squint of his eyes he looked at Tianna. "Very well. You may come with. And as for you Priya, we will meet up with you later." With that Remy, pushed out his seat and stood up. "I'll take care of the meal." He announced, slipping the bill amount and the tip underneath one of his cups, so it wouldn't fly away in the wind.

With a nod goodbye to Priya he walked down the small staircase to the front. "We will see you at the rendezvous. I'm anxiously awaiting what you uncover in your recon." He said with a slight smile. With that he turned his back to her and walked down the path slowly, so Tianna could catch up with him.

Tianna grabbed her things, her bag with her book. And nodded. She waved to priya and caught up with remy. She seemed to be lost in thought for a moment.
"So what exsactly would be my purpose here? I'm assuming I will be needed... they wouldn't send me other wise..." she said softly as she walked next to him.
Tianna fixed her curls and fixed her dress before waving to someone who had givin her bad looks before when she was on her way there. She shook her head.

Tianna agusted her bag and smiled her eyes seemed dark now as she thought about the mission. She always seemed to get excited before the missions, she loved them. They gave her the thrill she seks.

As he walked slightly ahead of Tianna, he glanced back as if pondering what to say to her. "Your file said that your a black magic caster. Does that mean you can manipulate dark energy?" He said as he turned his glance foward, scanning the path in front of him, so he would not trip.

"Were heading towards the rendezvous point, with a stop or two in between, there's something I want to test out with you. It should take us at least a day to get there." He said to her. With a glance ahead, the path they were on currently was the main road to Caligo. There were many curves, bends and turns making it take days to reach it. But, someone who was familiar with the land could navigate through the strange terrain and find a shortcut. It was a strange mixture of forest mixed in with dry brush and some rolling hills.

"Yes that is correct, I can summon and heal as well." She walked with him carring her large black book bag beside her. Her black curls bounced behind her as she watched where they were going cosly she always remembered paths so that if trouble hit she could get them out. She was a quick thinker when under stress. That's what made her the best in her field.

Tianna smiled once more as she dared to ask "what did you have in mind? I'm willing to use all my szkills to assist in the mission" her voice was young and professional as she walked almost beszide him. Her eyes full of curiosity.

The locals were utterly useless. The responses ranged from 'Oh honey, why do you need to go up there?' and 'No one really likes to talk about that, missy, so why don't you just go the other way.' The only remotely useful answer she obtained was from a weathered, old man. 'The locals up there don't like outsiders, and they don't get out much. That's all I'm going to say. Wouldn't want you to get into any trouble.'

So expect resistance from the people of Caligo. That was all? Really? Disgusted, Priya tried using her invisibility to eavesdrop on the people who she had just interrogated, but it was like she hadn't even brought anything up. The people just went back to their normal lives, unshaken. Priya was astonished by the amount of selective forgetfulness Jubenheim had.

Gathering her things, Priya started on the road to the rendezvous point. She was able to see the two walking ahead of her, but they were too far ahead for her to catch up with quickly. Instead, she scanned the landscape around them. As a scout, she needed to know if anything hostile was approaching, or worse, lying in wait for them. Priya made herself as inconspicuous as possible and sped up a little, keeping her eyes and ears open.

Remy had his katana resting against his should as he walked next to Tianna. He had a knack for drifting off into thought while talking with someone. The path they were taking was a straight shot to Caligo. Through some sparse woodlands and a few large hills here and there. They walked to a large open field, with some tall grass that went up halfway up his shin. Remy had an interesting experiement he wanted to try out ever since he read that she was a black magic user. The thought made him smile.

*Almost like night and day. Healing and dark matter. It's hard to believe this level of magic is still around...* He thought to himself.

When they reached their location he halted and spoke. "Tianna. Can you create a dark matter orb and suspend it in the air? I'd like you to put a considerable amount of energy into it also." He asked her.

She smiled and nodded "easily Remy..." she closed her eyes for a few moments as she concentrated on her energy. Her hands streached out before here before raising into the air as she move he hands a large black mass of energy appered before them, its size was as big as a small swimming pool for kids, about 3 feet in lenghth. Her eyes glowed as she seemedto hold it there flotting in the air.

"I can make it bigger if you'd like, this one however hasquiet a bit of energy" she said as shekept her consintration on the ball of energy.

There was a hacking wet cough somewhere to Remy’s right and Tianna’s left. Dmitri was walking toward with a large overcoat and plastic canteen about the size of a basketball. He was not fully aware that there were other people in the vicinity so when Tianna started showing her skills to Remy, Dmitri was rightfully surprised. In a second later Dmitri had dropped his canteen and was preparing himself for battle, but then he dropped his arms and started laughing. Dmitri bent back down and picked up the canteen. He struggled to get back upright to a full standing posture. He was now watching Tianna’s Dark Energy control with curious eyes.

“Should you really be doing this out in the open?” Dmitri asked Remy. “What will Headquarters think if they find out we are so lax about secrecy?” And then he starting laughing as if eh thought what he said just now was an inside joke. Holding up the canteen, Dmitri asked of these two, “Do you have any gas to spare? I have to get to Caligo by tomorrow morning.”

Tianna looked over her eyes glowing as she remained still her black mass of energy only growing.
"I trust that remy would not get me into trouble" her black curls blew in a light wind createdby her energy. Her black dress was as still as before. "Besides at headquarters they are well used to my well for lack of words showing off" her voice brokethen as she giggled looking back at her black mass as it seemed to have small flashes of light that resembles lightening bolts.

Tianna smiled at her work as she rased it higher into the air almost playing, she didn't want to ruin the grass with the enegy after all. She liked a good view as well. Her smile grew more dark as her eyes glowed a deep blue a curl falling in her face.

Remy looked at Dmitri and smiled. "No need to worry yourself old man. It'll be gone in a moment." With that, Remy tugged the strings and undid the knot to the silk bag he had around his katana and slid it off. He held the hilt in one hand and the sheath in the other. Everything about it resembled Heian era. The artistry was delicate yet detailed and the blade had a wonderous luminescent sheen. The only thing different was the hilt. It still had the traditional string ray wrap around it The only thing that was different, were 2 triggers that had looped finger holes, each actuating different things inside of the handle. What those "things" were... well, that was Remy's secret.

Slowly, and cautiously he slid the blade from the sheath. The sound the metal made was musical yet, hypnotizing to Remy. About halfway out he made one good jerk and readied into an attacking position. The ball of energy was back down in front of him, small sporatic bolts of purple energy shot to-and-fro from it.

Gracefully, he thrust the blade forward into the center of the energy and with his middle finger he pulled the upper trigger. What happened next was a wonderous mixture of alchemy and science. By the seconds, the intensity of the orb became translucent, decreasing in size. When it was gone, what was left was his blade, now with a dark black, purplish hue. It gave off a menacing aura.

He slid the blade back into its sheath which he now held with his left hand and turned around to face Tianna and Dmitri. Completely, negating what had just happened he spoke. "If you go back to Jubenheim, theres a fuel station near the Inn. You can't miss it. I've got some things to take care of still before meeting up with you all at the rendezvous." He said.

"Tianna. Shall we continue on our path?" He asked her.
