"Heh, they decide they wanna muster up some bravado it'll be there last." Walking towards the guards and their mechs Darius would keep a close eye on them, if they would do anything foolish or gullible and attack him it would be their last.

"Well, what the hell ya waiting for an invite to lead the way?"

The human security guard Jess Windsor paused as soon as she heard Darius’ outburst about his contract. He began to turn and reply about how much he didn’t care about any contracts other than his own which meant he followed ECRS orders and would make them come if necessary not that he really wanted that headache. He never got the chance to reply as the turian and asari mercenaries got involved stating their own opinions. The security mechs stopped with Jess but were ECRS models and not nearly as adaptable as some of the more mainstream company mechs. This resulted in their formation quickly becoming a cluster as they each scanned around and attempted to correct their formation error.

The turian guard cursed under his breath and pulled up his omnitool to issue new orders to the droids as they stared around in a stupor one would expect from raw military recruits. Jess shook his head believing he didn’t have time for this and was about to involve himself as well when the droids sharply reformed into a tight formation. The turian guard shut down his omnitool just in time to hear that the mercenaries were no longer going to give them any trouble for the moment.

“Thank you. This way sir.” Jess said motioning through the doorway as he, his partner, and the mechs all entered the warehouse. The warehouse was filled with large prefabricated housing and other structures ready to be set up as needed by the colonists for expansion. Past the prefabs were large storage containers containing the numerous supplies to help a budding colony grow. After clearing the crates the guards lead the group through another large door into the main concourse of the colony.

The main street seemed mostly deserted the only few people who were visible were ECRS personnel but even they numbered only a total of a squad in strength. As the group was lead towards the main ERCS offices on the edge of Leona’s Pride it was quite apparent that there were very few colonists for a very large number of buildings. The bright landscape was windswept and dust blew everywhere doing little to make Leona’s Pride seem anything more than a giant ghost town.

The mechs left the group outside the ECRS compound moving into a group of other mechs before powering down and collapsing into a storage position. Jess and his turian partner marched up the steps into the small security station. Inside the building was significantly different than outside as there were a greater number of ECRS personnel going over readouts and displays in a frantic nature as though they were all trying to solve some greater mystery. The turian departed the group at this time and Jess motioned for the others to follow him past some holding cells and into a briefing room.

The room was large with an inert display/briefing table in the center of the room. Several chairs were aligned along the walls in uniform fashion. Standing past the briefing table was a tall turian. The turian was plain faced and had an unhappy look as he caught sight of the mercenaries entering. Jess moved across the back of the room motioning his charge that they would be allowed to take a chair if they desired before leaning against the back wall of the room.

“Welcome to Leona’s Pride. I am Captain Victonius Baker. As you have undoubtedly seen the colony here has had some setbacks and is recovering slowly. I am supposed to allow let you know that you can contact me with any information or oddities you may come across during your stay here. We…” the captain seemed particularly grudging with his next words, “per Mr. Southerlin’s request will assist you in your duties here however we can.” Standing straighter and crossing his hands behind his back to provide a more imposing figure the captain spoke in a very stoic manner, “However if you cause any trouble here, harm any of the colonists, or threaten my men I will make sure your graves are decorated nicely.”

Tapping his helmet rhythmically, Darius would give a grin from the inside of his helmet.

"If thats the case I don't want any damn flowers on my grave seeing to as your men here will need that so called TOUGH love."

Lowering his pitch black visor for a brief moment he would show the Captain his grin. Not wanting to sit in the chairs that were provide for them, Darius would lean against a nearby wall while crossing his arms at the same time lifting his left foot placing it softly yet hard on the wall.

"So, when do we get started?"

Kerghan raised his head proudly, thankful that no further events occurred, apart from having to follow in silence with their interesting little friends in front of them. He carried suspicions, but nothing that would induce the sniper into action, but the bad smell was already hitting his nostrils. It seemed ironic that it was them being treated with suspicion, rather than the (somewhat) quiet mercenaries that were hired.

The sloppiness and inefficiency of the ECRS was beginning to worry the Turian. This didn't worry him at all. The emptiness in the streets seemed to suggest something wrong. A common sight for any experienced fighter; depressing to anyone in civvies.

What worried Kerghan was seeing who was in charge.

His eyes narrowed; he had never seen a Turian without marks before; most of them were swiftly dealt with before eyebrows were raised. No marks, no trust. Palaven was brutally loyal to that one, simple truth. The sniper was never a hating or disliking person, but couldn't help his blood boiling at the spectacle.

    Eyes met.

Keep frowning, you son of a bitch.

With that, the Turian took a breather, looked away and cleared his throat. His growl was barely concealed in his voice, struggling to be diplomatic. He waited for the others to sit down.

“We came here for answers... Captain. Why is the administrator unable to see us?”

Captain Baker expected defiance from these mercenaries in fact he wanted it. The more these mercenaries appeared as violent brutish guns for hire the more the ExoGeni executives would value their ECRS contract. The human threatened him and Victonius knew it was a show of fear from an intimidated little man knowing he was out classed and out gunned. The captain was happy when the human’s weak challenge shifted to business however just as he was about to maintain his control of the course of the conversation the turian mercenary challenged Victonius. The captain glared a long hard moment at Kerghan then replied, “He should be here any moment. He was notified that your flight was diverted due to space only a short while before you arrived and we were glad to help meet you in his stead and bring you to a suitable meeting place.”

“Back to your human companion’s question, you get down to business as soon as Miss Redia arrives with the details of whatever it is they have hired you on to deal with. To my understanding you will be assigned as primary security for Leona’s Pride after my people finish their security sweep. Yes you heard right the ECRS contingent will be pulling out within the next few hours.” Victonius seemed to take pleasure in the fact he would be leaving the mercenaries presence soon. He continued, “Only site security will be around and they have specific tasks and answer directly to me. As I said before you are not to interfere with their duties.”

Motioning to the security guard who had brought them in Captain Baker said, “You have met Sergeant Windsor. He is in charge of the temporary local ECRS team.” The muffled sound of shouting could be heard from the closed door behind the captain’s pause followed by the door flying open and a woman in a green business suit marched into the room.

The woman was short by human standards with a dark complexion of mixed human origin. Her hair was brown hair was in a tight bun held in place by black chopsticks. In her left hand was a datapad held in tightly clenched fingers. There was fury in Susan Redia’s eyes and poison on her lips as she spoke, “Captain! What is the meaning of this? You finished your report two weeks ago. I said you could bring in another team to take a second look out of courtesy but there isn’t a single forensic team outside doing a damn thing. All I see is a show of force! Is that Commander Banks of yours really that threatened? She afraid I have bigger balls than her? You will remember that you are here because ExoGeni hired you but if you can’t leave ExoGeni’s subcontractors alone I will make sure corporate gets a solid review and acts accordingly.”

The captain was unprepared for the barrage coming at him from the smaller human woman and stood their flabbergasted. After a moment he was able to recover and replied, “Ma’am, I assure you that we don’t need these freelance scum to protect this colony. They will only get in the way if we need to mobilize a more solid defense in the future. “

“Perhaps but you can take that up through official channels. For now I need to talk with my new staff members. My secretary said you offered your briefing room as an alternative meeting location.” She smiled coyly placing venom in her next words, “Thank you very much for your offer and we accept.”

Captain Baker stood there a moment waiting for her to continue into her briefing but a sarcastic smile from Miss Redia made him frown and grunt signaling Sergeant Windsor to follow him. When the ECRS had disappeared from the room Susan was able to give a genuine and please smile to the group in the room with her. “Welcome to Leona’s Pride I am Susan Redia the site administrator but you can call me Suzie. I must apologize for the ECRS they are solid straight up and down security and defense sorts but no where near what we need to solve our current predicament here. Before I get into specifics do any of you have any questions?”

Aleisa was silent during all of the charades, she wasn’t used to all this talking; with the commando matriarchs it as just a few words then you knew exactly what to do. The Asari did not have much experience with humans, at least not this closely; she had killed them, but not interacted with them at this level. Alesia had to hold her self from yawning as the captain spoke his babble, bureaucracy and the likes wasn’t Alesia’s strong side either; who that was in charge of whom, papers and approval for everything; she figured it was a human thing. But the fact that the group was to act as the primary security force but not to disturb site security was mind numbing even for an Asari as old as Alesia, what were they supposed to do then she though for herself.

As the somewhat amusing little human called Susan Redia entered the room and brought with her an awful lot of ruckus Alesia couldn’t help herself but to wonder about her statement that one human female though she had bigger balls than Miss Redia. Alesia was confused once again, when she learned about human anatomy only the men had what the short woman referred to as ‘balls’, not the female.

Alesia took a few subtle steps closer to Kerghan as the tiny lady raged about and as quietly as she could whispered in the Turian’s ear.

“pssst… human females have balls? I though only the men had those.”

"Excuse me, Miss, but it seems as though there is a good deal of confusion and disorder pertaining to our presence here." Ghash spoke up suddenly from where he had, until now, silently remained at the front corner of the group, "If it would be more convenient I would be willing to happily reschedule our appointment and renegotiate our contract to your liking. A nominal fee would of course be included."

The towering Krogan raised a brow while giving the woman a brief once over. He did not care for the way that these people conducted their business. Too many open opinions, too many private interests, not enough communication, and certainly nowhere near enough enforcement of decisions and mandates made by the higher ups. Such conditions typically proved... inconvenient for business arrangements such as these.

'Security guards?!' Darius thought to himself before spout all sorts of curse words in his head, this would remind him of his first few months doing security work for Cerberus. To keep from going ramped like a Krogan on drugs he would remember he was only doing it for the money soon as he got paid he'd leave and go about his business. For now all he could do is sit back and wait for the specifics to be given.

    ((sorry for the short post))

Susan Redia smiled politely at Ghash as she listened to his offer. Still smiling as she shook her head then replied, “No that won’t be necessary at all you are exactly what we are looking for and what we need here right now. I know we have been pretty scarce with the details of what happened at the colony a month ago. It is not that we didn’t want to send you data on the mission either. It is just Mr. Southerlin felt it wise to keep the data we have from getting onto the extranet. It just isn’t secure enough and we felt it a necessary precaution to protect ExoGeni interests and keep the incident from harming the faith of our investors. “

“What actually happened was not an accident. What we believe happened was a slaver attack that caught the ECRS with their pants down.” Susan took in a deep breath looking down at her datapad review something then continued, “…or worst they helped broker the attack. What we do know for certain is that morning all comm buoys from the system went silent from jamming followed by localized comm blackouts here at Leona’s progress. Sensors throughout the northern hemisphere of Marion were overpowered by powerful jamming. The few that worked detected a large mass about the size of a cruiser enter the atmo and descended on Leona’s Pride. ECRS sent their teams in to investigate but by the time the got there the ship was already bugging out at high speed. The only thing we could go after them with were unarmed slow freighters which didn’t sound appealing to any of their captains.”

“When the believed slaver vessel pulled out the signal jamming got weaker as it pulled out. When we got to the colony we found the colony mostly intact and very little sign of trouble other than every computer and security mech fried and no bodies. We have almost no evidence of what actually happened here. I thought it was especially troubling how fast the slaver ship made it into the system landed at the colony and loaded all the people on board. Unwilling to let it go I got permission to hire freelancers like yourselves. My first hire was a tech expert.”

She pulled out her omni tool and dimmed the lights in the room. “He recovered this from one of the fried security mainframes.” She said as the conference holograph displayed the images of an older batarian cruiser being loaded with a large manufacturing prefab container. Around the ship were brown armored humanoids.

“After about a week of cleaning up these images my tech expert was able to get this.” A few adjustments to her omnitool caused the image to zoom in on the humanoids near the entry portal of the batarian cruiser where six batarians stood much more clearly behind them was a turian in ECRS armor whose markings and face blew up to the side of the holograph depicting a service record and personnel profile. The turian was talking to a batarian in blue and white armor. They converse a few seconds without sound before the both head into the ship followed by the image distorting and going to static.

“That is Lalyat Malkarian. One of the squad leaders for the ECRS security team here before everyone disappeared. He vanished along with everyone else from the colony here. Based on the images I can only assume that he acted on behalf of the batarians. I don’t know if other members of the ECRS here on Marion are also involved. That is why I need all of your help to help me protect my city here and if possible find out anything else on what happened to my people so I can get them back.” Susan was quite passionate about the final part.

“So, are there any questions and can I count on your services?” the woman administrator asked with a pleading expression.

Kerghan tilted his head, listening to the Asari's words with a growing smirk on his face; the words that the newer face in the room had obviously baffled them. To Aleisa, he gave a soft shrug, muttering softly back.

“Not entirely sure. Asking her would probably be like asking a Quarian to have a drink with you. Or a Krogan to dance for you.”

The Turian chuckled shortly, giving a wink to the Asari before tilting his head at the angry human woman. Why were the shorties always the ones with the loud voices, anyway? Nevertheless, it caught his attention well and he narrowed his eyes as the details were finally brought to light.

Batarians were known for being brash, rude, obscene and obtrusive. Similar to events in Mindoir, the attacks were violent and at least a few dozen were killed or injured. Batarian slavers were experts when it came to inflicting pain, but weren't exactly the most cunning of species. So how were they able to peacefully steal a colony without destroying all in sight?

Kerghan narrowed his eyes at the vid. “Not sure about the Turian. Never seen him before, but blue and white armour often points towards Blue Sun operatives, meaning that someone's hired them, just like you've hired us. They're either bait or just target practice, because something stinks about these methods – they're too smart. Too intelligent. I don't think an entire squad of Batarians could be this calculating. I have no doubt that there are more traitors in our midst...”

He gave a soft shrug, “Either way, Missy... you got yourself a gun to protect your people. I don't know about the rest of these guys, but I want to help. If I screw up, keep the money.”

Ghash nodded in agreement as Kerghan spoke, his eyes now narrow slits as he peered with interest at the vid before him. He stepped towards it, his massive neck craning forward slightly for a closer look.

"The mastermind clearly hasn't revealed himself. A play of cunning or of cowardice, I can't say." The Krogan spoke, his voice as rough as gravel and as deep as Hell, "The only question is the nature of his affiliation with the Blue Suns. I am... curious as to the answer."

His eyes rolled sideways within their scaled sockets, his gaze coming to rest upon the Administrator to his right.

"I will honor the contract that was agreed upon between myself and Mr. Southerlin. Said documentation entails privileges to reprimand any and all personnel who pose a threat of impeding my obligations." Ghash spoke, his tone polite despite the nature of his words, "So long as there are no more surprises I believe our professional relationship will prove to be long and fruitful."

Pushing himself off the wall, Darius cracks his knuckles with a loud pop. Gazing upon the schematics that were displayed before and could also indicate the mastermind has yet to reveal him or herself.

"So, someone wants to play hide and go seek do they?" Smirking on the inside of his dark visor he could fill the adrenaline pumping through his veins readying for action, if there was a bounty on his head issued by authority or gangs on Leona's Pride he would collect on that bounty placed on his head before someone else which ever gave the most pay.

Bringing up his omni-tool he downloaded the vid for further study, this would prove useful for information that would be need for the rest of his stay on Leona's Pride.

Darius then basically repeats the same thing that the Krogan said to admin about the contract but in his own words.

“Blue Suns?” Susan asked with an expression of complete ignorance about the subject followed by a determined look to find out more, “I will have our information broker look into that for us. I thank you for the lead and will forward you any information we find out.”

Susan was incredibly pleased to hear that the group seemed dedicated to find her missing colonists. “I would like to thank all of you very much for your assistance. Honestly I didn’t think Mr. Southerlin would follow my advice at all about bringing in non-ECRS personnel. He thought that internal affairs personnel from the ECRS could figure it out after we recovered the evidence I showed you. I thought they would just care about cleaning there house and not finding my frie….. colonists. Please let me know what resources you will need if any and I will get to work on making the arrangements.” She said her face seeming to find some of the conversation painful to talk about.

“As was stated in the contract you may requisition within means any weapons or equipment from our stores. Unfortunately this doesn’t include the ECRS arsenal. However we also had the option of getting our equipment from more than one provider so though it is more limited and was planned for emergency defense use it should be slightly higher broader in stock. Also if you need transport to a different location let me know and I will work you into the shuttle schedule.” Checking her pad to make sure she mentioned all of her notes she then remembered to tell the group, “Oh, we are expecting about five hundred new volunteer colonists to get shipped into the colony next week. There are also about fifty or so colonists here now that have volunteered to help get the place back up and running. They don’t know the truth about what happened. Even most of the ECRS doesn’t know much about what happened. Please be careful not to cause panic amongst the colonists if you can but, if it comes down to it I would rather have all my originals back than their replacements so do what you need to do.”

The meeting was pretty straight forward, just like Aleisa liked. One person spoke, the rest listened and that was the end of it. But politics wasn’t her strong side, she usually got lost in her thoughts when listening to endless debates about the rights and wrongs of the galaxy. So it was in this case as well, her mind her wandered off entirely somewhere before or after the thing with the human balls. She started to become bored, the suit she was trapped in was warm and began to itch. Her whole body had ants crawling all over it, aching for something to do. She couldn’t help herself but almost interrupting the somewhat nice lady as she was about to finish her orders.

“So, what exactly are we supposed to do now?”

The Turian folded his arms in thought for a while, reviewing all that they had talked about. Jammed signals often pointed towards a tech expert – but what if the impossible were to occur... something that hadn't been seen out of the Traverse... but would the stupid things really go that far? Some of his kind even doubted their existence, since they had not been seen in centuries.

But the sniper knew that all things were possible.

    There had to be something.

    Anything.

Kerghan decided to go with his gut – he needed to know. He wanted to be proved wrong... because if he was right, the mission would take a spiralling, downward turn.

“I want to look at your tech expert's records. If that's all right with you, Missy. Sound files, if possible, as well as the timing of the jammed signals. Something tells me that there is more to this than a simple Batarian slaver raid...” Kerghan looked to the others, “... with that on our omni-tools, it'll help us locate the area where the ship landed, for starters. Maybe we can find something that these poor people missed. It's a shame I don't recognise this Lalyat Malkarian...”

He didn't enjoy the thought of the replacements vanishing – and although the female administrator was passionate about the initial group vanishing, Kerghan didn't like the idea of the replacement colony disappearing either.

“If they appear... a couple of us could infiltrate the crowds to keep an eye on things. I doubt that they'll attack again, but if they do, we're there already to shoot them.”

“But ah... you don't have to take my word for it,” the Turian gave a shrug, “those are just my thoughts on this.”

Seila watched through the video feeds that she had hacked and pulled up all relevant data on what the group had been talking about as well as a detailed map of the area. She would follow them and help if she could. Tapping a few controls on her omni tool she hacked all their tools, copying them all to her files then left a marker so that she could easily get back in without them knowing unless they were extremely well taught about such things.

Looking back she saw Dante standing guard near the entrance to the alleyway she was in. She tapped into its video relay and saw that the alley was still clear. Smiling to herself behind the mask. Even though she was a tech speicallist and an engineer, she had become quite the little spy.

tapping a few more controls on her omni tool the video popped up on the glass faceplate of her mask in one corner allowing her to view it while she walked. it struck her as odd. The blue suns had been part of the attack on the migrant fleet a little while ago, so she was out gathering information on the subject. Maybe the people behind all this had been part of that?

Shaking her head she walked out of the alleyway with dante following behind her carrying her equipment. She had been thinking to much to herself and walked right into the Turian named Kergahn.

Backing up slightly and looking at him she bowed and appologized. "I'm so sorry, i had something on my mind."

Seila could feel the stares of everyone there, almost as if they knew what she had done. trying to act natural Seila turned and began to walk away.

(ooc: dark, i dont know who ran into you, but it wasn't my chara, i specifically stated it was the turian. as for you detecting the hack? Quarian+ technician= almost undetectable, especially for a human adept.)

Looking at the group Seila nervously backed up as she waited for their response, she wasn't sure if her running into them was a good or bad thing, but she decided to try to play the young pilgrimage quarian bit on them, hoping that it would get some kind of sympathy. Not to mention try to draw away their attention from the fact that she had gotten into the room.

"Um, you all have such impressive equipment. Do you need an engineer to repair it? I'm on my pilgrimage and im trying to earn a bit of a living. I could even help out with any fights you might have!" Seila exlaimed happily clapping her hands together. Turning around she sees dante 'hiding' in the distance. "Come here you bosh'tet, you may not be ccmplete but you have all my gear!"

Dante thumped quietly up and stood next to Seila dwarfing her by a good foot and a half as most of its weaponry was carefully folded away to look as inconspicuous as possible, not easily done considering what they were.

The Heavy weaponry that was stationed and strategic hardpoints on the forearms and back shoulder plates were concealed under the armor plating that would move aside if the weapons were to be used. The two most noticeable weapons that Seila had put on were the M-8 avenger assault rifles that were folded up neatly on the chest area near the shoulder joints of the arms. Even without them in the ready position you could tell aprox where they would unfold.

Even as Dante stood there, his intimidation factor had saved her hide quite a few times, so she tried not to ever go anywhere he couldn't go, which for his size was very few flaces as Dante could crouch and maneuver himself quite well.

Looking back at the group she was quite pleased with her 'sales pitch' as she waited for their reply
