Hello DHers, hope you're having a good Monday. Here is a couple videos I'm sure you'll get a laugh out of.

I know this is supposed to be satire, but honestly, it's still rather offensive to women, and I didn't find it funny at all...

I get that this is satire, but not everyone will share your degree of gender-focused humour. Harry Enfield had a lot of funny scenes and focusing on a small aspect of it is a reflection of you, not of the rest of DH. If anyone has any objections, put them in here, otherwise, it's getting removed.

My honest question is that if it were the other way around and it was a satire of men, would anyone actually have a problem with it?

If it was a satire of men done by women, then I would say yes. People probably would.

You know what offends me as a man? That there is not nearly enough satire of men in the world. I feel left out of the party! Besides, focusing on gender roles doesn't exactly help anyone in this day and age. Everyone is different in their own way, not JUST a man or woman, gay or straight, religious or non religious. We are all people. Everyone is so afraid of offending this group or that group (well not Native Americans, very few people actually care about them unfortunately) that there is no real dialogue between all these groups. If you can't laugh at yourself, what right do you have to laugh at anyone else? I like to laugh, even at my own expense.

Well, I do, but then, I'm sleep deprived and predisposed to being a bitch today.

The reason it pisses me off is that it bashes women with an education and an opinion. Sfmaster, the reason THAT pisses me off is women were repressed for decades, no, hundreds/thousands of years. It's only in the past 50-100 years that women were ALLOWED to have an education, express opinions, hold important jobs. I really get that this is all in jest, but the first video (The only one I watched, since it annoyed me) is repulsive, considering how hard women had to work to be treated equally to a man. There is no satire of men like this, because what would they satirize? Men have always been dominant to women in history, with a few notable exceptions.

Sorry if this doesn't make as much sense as I want it to, the baby kept me up all night, I'm running on about 4 hours of sleep.

Oh it makes sense, the problem with the point you made is that it satirizes male chauvinism as much if not more than upward thinking women.
